It has been a few months since I’ve updated our blog, but that’s because we’ve been busy knockin’ out our “timeline to launch” list, as I call it. We listed our house for sale in April, sold it in May, and just closed on it last week! There was so much to do to get us to this point. Of course, we had to move everything we owned (that we wanted to keep) to our storage units…yes plural. One indoor, one outdoor. Half-way through filling up the outdoor unit we realized we were quickly running out of space, so we had to upgrade to a larger one. All said and done, we fit everything into the two…just barely! It was like real-life Tetris. At first, everything was in nicely organized stacks and by the end…well let’s just say I already feel sorry for my future self and what she’ll have to deal with when she wants to move this stuff again (future Melissa’s problem).
Anywho, somehow we survived the heat, strep throat (oh yeah, Ben and I both had strep our last couple days in the house), and a thousand trips to the storage units, but we got out of the house exactly 1 hour before the final walk through, which gave us just enough time to get to our local campground, unhitch, and truck it back up to the closing table (with a whole 10 minutes to spare).
I’m so glad I booked us a campsite in the area to handle all the loose ends and to spend a little extra time with our friends and family over the holiday weekend. We have also been able to organize our lives before we really set off on our adventure. The camper was a disaster because as we were trying to pack up the house, things were just getting shoved in here. But now, we are a whole 5 days into this adventure, the camper is starting to look like a home, we’ve said most of our goodbyes, and we are ready to officially leave the area tomorrow morning. Wagons East!
Stay happy my friends,
Melissa
